Lupine and Balsamroot cover the hillsides in purples and yellows. The honeycomb heads of Morels hide among the Vetch and native grasses, whiles Killdeer distracts predators from her eggs with a feigned broken wing and baby Praying mantis emerge into the world from their ootheca. Skyward, the Ponderosa pines and the Hawthorn flowers bloom with Lewis woodpeckers flying amongst the boughs. On the forest floor, the worms and Earth stars greet the coming rains, accompanied by the nightly chorus of frogs along the river below.
