Here, the last of the summer blooms; Blackberry and Huckleberries are being harvested while Aster, Willow Herb, Wild Sunflowers, and Rubber Rabbit Brush bloom. Magpies can be seen perched in high trees and flying over open hill sides. The mule deer have grown their antlers covered in a soft velvet that sheds in the early fall. The mostly elusive Praying Mantis, is out looking for a mate ready to lay her egg (an ootheca).
