October
2021, pen and ink on 9”x 12” stipple texture paper.
October, the beginnings of Autumn, the Fall Crocus being the last bloom peaking out of the leaves and lichens that litter the ground. Geastrales, or Earth Stars and other fungi are erupting from woody mulch, while the Black Eyed Junco busily forages nearby. It’s the last of the harvest, bones and wasp nests are abandoned, the occasional croak of a toad, and thin Hawthorne branches lay bare.
