Nest of a Cormorant

2021, pen and ink on 6”x 9” stipple texture paper.

The Cormorant seabird nests and feasts on piers and under bridges. Likely seen with wings out stretched on old pilings jutting from the water. One myth claims the cormorant was the first form Lucifer took before becoming the serpent, perched on the peak of the Tree of Knowledge. Here a Cormorant sits in a nest of Goose Neck Barnacles and Mussels back dropped by a night sky and golden sun.
